The Beginnings of a Vest

Here is the beginning of my last big Christmas project... I'm following the Ardys pattern in the largest size. I'm using Berroco Vintage. I had to go up two needle sizes to get gauge, so I'm really hoping that I don't run out of yarn! Everyone cross your fingers for me...

I've finished the initial ribbing, which includes two cable repeats. So far, I'm enjoying it, but it's slow-going with 201 stitches per row...

The cables are pretty though! I'm hoping they'll block a little more evenly... And I'm sure they'll get better as I get more of the piece done.

Other than this, and the finishing touches on my other big project, I only have a handful of little things left to make for Christmas! How is your Christmas crafting going?

Linking up with Ginny and Tami.

  2. The pattern looks lovely. And I do like the detail of extending the cable right down to the bottom. I hope you enjoy knitting it, even if you're against the clock!

  3. Fingers Crossed! I hate running out of yarn. I do it far too often. You would think I'd start buying extra. The vest is going to be super cute. I hope we get to see it modeled when its finished.

    1. Thanks! I have about fifty yards extra, but I had to go up two sizes to get gauge... We'll see! And hopefully I can convince my Grandma to model it for me! It would be just a bit big on me, but I'll model if I have to!

  5. No Christmas crafting here again this year. I actually kind of miss it so I'll start in January and do little things for my aunties and whoever.
Great start to this vest. Such a vivid blue.

    1. Thanks! My grandma picked the pattern and the color. I tried to start early (like August..), but other things kept getting in my way. And here I am, less than a week away, stressing out!
