Shawls Galore!

I have a lot of shawls on my needles right now... These three, and a fourth one that I don't have a picture of! Now if only I could get some of them finished...

Saroyan

Trillian

Cavatina

I love all three of them though! The Cascade Heritage is an absolute dream to work with! It's unbelievably soft. The green I'm using for Saroyan is one of the yarns I dyed myself using Kool-Aid!

Even though I'm quiet, I'm still here and I'm still knitting!

My Newest WIP!

I've kind of taken a week off from knitting and crocheting! It's been so hot here, I have hardly wanted to touch it. But I'm still working on a baby blanket for one of my friends (due in September). I have all of the squares done, and only have to sew them together and add the border. I don't have a picture of all of them, but here's what they look like:

Bouncy Ball Baby Blanket
But my newest WIP? I'm in the earliest stages of wedding planning! My boyfriend proposed!

In case anyone is interested in the how: We went to Findley State Park and rented a little cabin (for only one night, the hassle of setting up a tent wasn’t really worth it), and hung out doing camping things all day.

He waited until after midnight so that technically it was July 18th--and we’d officially been together for five years and one month! He had his phone playing a love songs playlist, and he said he had a present for me. He gave me one of the treasure chests like you can get at Hobby Lobby or Joann’s. It had ten little brown paper bags in it that were labeled 1-10. There was a little notebook that explained that each gift was significant to an important moment in our relationship, and the tag on each one would explain why he chose that. So they were things like: a little Wall-E figurine because that was our first date (and “Wall-E always loved Eve, like I’ll always love you”), a little eraser cheeseburger and fries because we met working at McDonald’s together, a little teddy bear because we’ve been doing a lot of long distance and at the beginning we made Build-A-Bears for each other… I won’t list them all, but they were all adorable! Then the last one, he said he wanted to make sure I read the tag before I saw what it was, so he got the tag out and handed it to me, and it said “Will you marry me?” And then he had the ring out and I started crying and I said yes! He didn’t get down on one knee or anything, because it all happened so fast! But it was perfect, and I love that it was just us. :)

The best part is, that I didn’t suspect anything! Even with the love playlist and the earlier presents! When we both go to school in a few weeks, he’ll be at Ohio State University and I’ll be at Wright State University. He’s said before that he doesn’t want to be engaged when we’re not in the same city. But we’ll only be an hour apart, so it isn't too bad! But that’s why I didn’t expect anything! Our plan is to wait to get married until two summers from now, after I graduate and he’s done with the school portion of his Med School. Then I’ll be able to move to Columbus with him!

I'm so excited for our future together!!

I've been quiet, but I'm still busy!

I know I haven't posted much lately, but I have been crocheting like crazy! I had a handful of orders for more Swiffer covers, and there's a crochet-along going on in one of my Ravelry groups... Not to mention a sale on a newly released pattern that I've been waiting and waiting for...

How about if I just show you what I've been up to?

First, I was asked to test the newest Freshstitches pattern (not even out yet!). It's a sloth! The arms button together so that he can hang. I'm not really a sloth person, personally, but he's cute.

Sloth
Then I had an order for three Extra-Long Swiffer covers... I'll only show one here, but the links to all three of them are in the caption if anyone is interested.

One, Two, and Three
Then my boss noticed me working on them, and ordered one for herself!

Swiffer Cover
Adriana, just started her own group on Ravelry for fans of her patterns. She started with a crochet-along using her first pattern! I just love these guys! I might have to try to make a few more before the end of the CAL.

Emilia the Elephant: One and Two
And one last thing, I finished up this Hello Kitty doll for my aunt! She saw it on Pinterest, and just had to have it, so I tracked down the pattern.

Hello Kitty Ballerina
On my hook right now, Clara the Ice Cream Cone. I don't have pictures yet, but I'm planning one in chocolate and one in strawberry. I can't wait to finish them!

What have all of you been up to while I've been gone?

Elementary, My Dear Watson

I just finished up these two for one of my sister's friends! I wasn't too thrilled with them, personally, but she loved it! So that made me feel better. Isn't it the best feeling when someone absolutely loves what you've made for them?

Sherlock and Watson
Otherwise, I have a ton of complaints about this pattern. I won't list them all here, because it doesn't really matter unless you're interested in making the pair. But feel free to check out the novel I wrote on my Ravelry project page (it's linked in the caption!). NOTE: Watson is not shirtless.. It's just an unfortunately-too-similar tan color.

Up next is the freshstitches Doll-A-Long! It just started Thursday, so feel free to jump in and make a doll with us! One of my friends is having a baby girl in September, so my doll will be for her.

Graduation!

Graduation is coming up! I whipped up this little cutie for my cousin who graduates from high school in a couple weeks! I am so proud of her for what she has accomplished. I'm also excited because she chose to go to Ohio University (my alma mater!) in the Fall.

Graduation Owl
Otherwise, as some of you know but I don't think I've posted here, I've recently become more serious about taking commissions for projects! If anyone is interested in any of the animals you've seen here (or anything you haven't seen--I can probably do it), please do not hesitate to email me or message me on Ravelry! All of my contact information is available on my About Me page.

I'll leave you with this. I added a graduation cap to one of my tiny ducks!

What Also Floats in Water?

Hey guys! I know it's been quite a while, but I just wanted to drop in to share these adorable ducks I just finished up. I'm beyond excited over how cute they are!

Finished Object Saturday...

I guess I'm about two hours too late! In my defense, it has felt like Thursday all day. Actually, for me, it's felt like Thursday since Wednesday. I'm not sure why...

I only have one (sort of two) things to share with you this week. If you remember, last week I shared an owl that my boss commissioned me to make for her. She loved it so much, she put in another order! She wanted a bear (the school's mascot) that her daughter could give to a friend. So of course, I turned to a freshstitches pattern!

Teddy Bear

She also wanted it to have an orange sweater with the school's initial and the #4 sewn on jersey-style. Here's what I came up with!

Modified Teddy Sweater
This might be the trickiest sweater modifications that I've done to date. Not only did I have to adjust the sizes, but I also had to move the sleeves so that they were not centered on the sides (as they would normally be in the pattern). I didn't really like the way that the raglan decreases looked on the front because the sleeves were so close together... The 'G' hides them nicely though. But if I make a sweater for a freshstitches animal again, I'll probably try a different method of raglan decreases that aren't quite so obvious.

FO Friday

I have a few things to share today! It's been a while since I've done a Finished Objects Friday post, so I'm pretty excited!

The first thing I finished is a panda for a girl that I work with!

Lala the Panda
I also finally assembled my Granny Square Cowl from the freshstitches Cowl Swap (which I mentioned in this post).

Granny Square Cowl
Then I made a penguin for my friend's nephew.

Howie the Penguin
Then my boss asked if I would make her a Nelson the Owl. Since I had never used this pattern before, I wanted to do a test run. So here is my first owl.

Nelson the Owl
My boss wanted one just like Adriana's, so here's what I came up with!

Nelson the Owl #2
Then yesterday, I whipped up this little slug for the freshstitches Slug-A-Long! I'm sure I'll make a couple more before the end of the CAL. He's just so cute!

Hannah the Slug
Then last night, I made this project bag! I followed this tutorial that I found on Pinterest. I made one for a friend too, but I don't have pictures of that one. I just love the way it turned out!

I'm linking up with Tami for FO Friday. Check out her page for more finished projects! What did you finish this week?

Christmas Round Up

I was finally able to get pictures of all of my Christmas presents! So now that things are getting back to normal after the holidays, I would love to share them all with you! Sorry I've been sort of MIA recently.. I hope to get back into the swing of things now that the holidays are over and there shouldn't be any secret projects!

Here is the shawl that I made for my grandmother. It's one of the four patterns in the Hitchhiker trilogy of patterns! I am in love with it!

Magrathea

I made this vest for my other grandmother. I'm not super happy with it, but I'm glad to be done with it! And she likes it, so that's what matters. My sister is modeling it, which is why it's too big for her!

Ardys

I made this amigurumi squirrel for my sister's friend Kayla. She loves squirrels and I'd been dying to try out the pattern anyway!

Murray the Squirrel

And finally, the Kindle Fire cover I made for my mom. I'm super thrilled about this because I made it without a pattern! I was loosely basing it off of this one that I found on Etsy.

That's all for me today guys! I'm sure there are other Christmas projects that I forgot to share, but this is good for now!
